Our Heavy Damped (HD) PCC Buffer Model has stiffer hydraulic dampening and stronger return spring for high stress applications. For Pistol Caliber Carbine builds that need increased shock absorption. Can be used in typical PCC carbine builds as well as short-stroke systems, and for hotter ammo. This HD model is not recommended for short barreled builds since they do not run the bolt as hard and will get more effect from the standard model. This buffer model was developed to fill the need for stiffer shock absorption which is needed on some PCC guns. If you plan to run your gun in a short stroke manner, then we recommend this buffer with our PCC buffer weight which will add mass while shortening the stroke. Many shooters feel that this buffer with the PCC buffer weight is the softest running even with a full stroke 16" carbine.
Blitzkrieg Components partnered with KynSHOT to develop a top-of-the-line 9mm specific AR-15 buffer using KynShot's Hydraulic Buffer Technology. The Hydraulic Buffer body uses hydraulic shock absorption to dampen the impact of the bolt at the rear of its travel and also to dampen the forward impact of the Buffer's weight as it chambers the next round. It's weight and length have been optimized for the 9mm application so that it runs reliably, softens recoil, smooths out the action, and stops just behind the bolt catch using any 9mm Parabellum (9x19mm) ammo type. It provides the softest recoil impulse of any 9mm buffer we know of and will allow very fast follow up shots, improved accuracy and less wear on the firearm. The hydraulic fluid and seals are made to meet mil-spec requirements and have an ambient temperature operating range of -30F to +150F.
The blowback operation of a PCC AR-15 drives a very heavy bolt much harder than a standard AR-15 BCG and it needs to be dampened as much as possible to optimize the system, reduce wear on the firearm and reduce recoil and sight movement. For this reason, the buffer is a very important component in getting a AR-15 PCC to run at its full potential. The design is simple, yet very effective and will feel softer and run quieter than any conventional AR buffer. Spring noise is also dramatically reduced using this buffer. The length of our buffer stops the bolt just behind the bolt catch on a 9mm AR-15 without the need for a spacer.
Buffer Spring selection is very important to optimal performance and minimal recoil and sight movement. While the 5015HD buffer has increased resistance compared to the 5007 buffer, it will need similar spring strength to get optimal performance unless additional weight is added using our PCC buffer weight. If using the buffer weight, then spring strength can often be reduced. Trial and error is often needed.
Spring Selection Guidance: *The following is provided as general guidance as a starting point in spring selection on 9mm carbines: JP 308 Rifle Spring - 14.5" & 16" barrel without PCC buffer weight JP 308 Carbine Spring or SPRINCO Orange Spring - 14.5" & 16" barrel with PCC buffer weight
Using with PCC Buffer Weight: Our PCC buffer weight can be used with this buffer to add more mass in front of the buffer. This often softens the action even further and can also allow you to step down one level in spring strength from a .308 rifle to a .308 carbine spring in a typical 16" carbine.
Bolt Weight: If your bolt has a weight in it, we recommend keeping the weight in the bolt. Removing the weight to get a lighter bolt is not recommended for blowback guns even with light competition loads.
Improvements: Over the last several years our buffers have been run hard by thousands of shooters in just about every conceivable type of build and in intense PCC competition. We have had great feedback from our customers which has resulted in several rounds of product improvements in 2018 to achieve maximum effectiveness and service life. Our goal is the most effective buffer and the most durable. The buffers we are now shipping have all the latest improvements.
